The University of Coimbra concluded the 4th edition of the EC2U Entrepreneurial Week, held from October 7 to 10, 2024, with the participation of 34 students from the eight universities of the EC2U alliance. Organized by the Work Package 9 «Innovation Hub» led by the University of Salamanca and the JKY University of Linz, the event aimed to enhance entrepreneurial skills and foster innovative thinking in Health Innovation.
The four-day program led students through critical stages of innovation, from discovery and ideation to prototyping and communication. Participants tackled healthcare challenges in expert-led workshops and developed their ideas into prototypes, with the guidance of experienced mentors. The event culminated in a pitch competition on October 10, where teams presented their innovative solutions to a panel of judges. The winning projects offered groundbreaking approaches to improving healthcare accessibility and delivering digital solutions in the health sector.
In addition to the entrepreneurial activities, participants visited the IPN Incubator, an innovation hub in Coimbra, and explored the city’s UNESCO heritage sites, enriching their experience both professionally and culturally.
The EC2U Entrepreneurial Week reinforces the alliance’s commitment to preparing students to address real-world challenges through entrepreneurship and international collaboration. By building strong bonds among students from different countries, the event provided valuable insights into how innovation can tackle growing healthcare challenges, focusing on sustainability and accessibility.
As the EC2U alliance continues to expand its initiatives, the Entrepreneurial Week plays a crucial role in empowering the next generation of European entrepreneurs and innovators. This year’s focus on health innovation has equipped participants with the skills, ideas, and networks needed to drive significant change in the healthcare industry.
